Changed to 4 hole 0280155784 everything was fine until I hit a pothhole.

Glowing exhaust and fire on the muffler are signs of over fueling the engine. That happened to one of my old cars when 3 injectors stuck open during an acceleration and let off. the injectors didn't seat back up. My Cat melted down and pipes and front of muffler were red and glowing. It could be...

    Newbie with an XJ, Update

I bought one of those almost 6 years ago for another build and I'm pretty sure it was only like $130 bucks after tax. Then took it off the next year cause it went to 6 inch lift w/long arms from them.

Neophyte - need Transfer Case/Lift advice

I currently have the exact same XJ as you....97 4.0 aw4 np242 ect... Here's where we differ a bit, I'm on 31 x 10.5 r15 mud grips and at 4 inches of lift, speedo correction gear and had to do the 1" tc drop to correct vibrations driving above 55 MPH. At the 3 inch lift point I experienced no...

2024 Cherokee Crawl - earlier dates

I would love to go and meet and trail ride with y'all but that is almost 400 miles for me one way and can't take that much time off in June, sorry guys. I really want to catch up with some other XJ guys and ride. I ride with JK's, JT's and some other various Jeeps most of the time off the 600-1...

    Welding precautions

The whole reason for the disconnecting the Battery before welding on or engine work is to to keep the PCM/ECM from getting fried from a possible arch or ground spike. I don't normally do it either but, was told that's the reason by an ASE field coordinator. Just my 2.5 cents if that's what it's...

How much backspacing is too much?

I'm running the T/M TM5-5866 trail master rock crawler black steel wheels in 15x8 with the new General Mud Grappler X3 all terrain tires in 31x10.5 r 15

How much backspacing is too much?

I run 4.5" backspacing on my wheels on my 31x 10.5o mud grips with 4 " inch lift and it has never touched, rubbed anything even at full lock and flex

What not to do to fresh paint

The instructions on the tractor paint didn't call for anything but the acetone to spray it. It was mixed 4:1 if I remember correctly. Just wait at least 3 days to cure before you wet sand it. I tried mine the next morning and it wasn't cured yet.

I wish I got more snow......

I just checked that out......WOW!! Very clean looking body with some really cool tracks. I want tracks for mine but I doubt I will ever have the $$$ to get them. I wonder how they would hold up around where I live with just mud, hard packed red clay and some pretty knarly trails. we get a couple...

I'm currently running on my 97 XJ extended front bump stops and front springs/ shocks from my old JKU 4 inch lift that I put back to stock before I traded it in on a go fast.

none of the shift solenoids or speedo would work in your XJ if you use the 95 stuff. It will bolt up , but won't work

Weekend is over...what did you get done?

I would be more interested in the old Scout behind the Fords to have a toy to build again. That could be real fun to drive train swap it to get dependable power and fuel mileage. Throw some better axles under it with modest lift and good tires and trail that bad boy!

    ISO: 2wd Axle Beam

I've got one I pulled out of my 97 XJ that I converted last year just sitting in my storage room. no hubs on it, just the knuckles, ball joints and bushings. If you're still looking for one I'm in Alabama and will take reasonable offer. I will even drive half way for small fee.

    engine swap question

That is going to be a fun swap. I know the trans tunnel will have to wider for that transmission and the cross member will have to be modified as well as the motor mounts, cooling system ect.....there's not much room to tackle much towards the front seats and gas pedal when taking on the trans...

ZJ rear disc swap with ABS

I'm pretty sure the only difference between the ZJ and XJ rear D35's are the newer ZJ has disc brakes and the housings. If you have access to the whole axle just use all the parts from the ZJ and it should work. I've had/ have both and have swapped axle shafts between them when they both have...

What not to do to fresh paint

You're right about everyone going to know that vehicle. I've already had many people trying to buy it though. With me being a former Marine I wanted a more military look to it.
