    Carnage thread

All mine happened before we even got there. We left 5 hours earlier than had planned to hopefully get there early & get set up before midnight. 30 minutes into the trip, the Crank Position Sensor went out & left us stranded on the side of the interstate for 4.5 hrs. Still didn't get there till...

    4wd switch

Ok. Found what you guys were talking about. I capped off the vac. supply. The switch has 1 wire (black w/ yellow stripe) coming out to a bullet connector that plugs into 2 wires. Do I run the wire from the Posi-Lok & put a bullet connector on it & plug it into the 2 wires? And yes it's an...

I got my Posi-Lok in today. It has a switch on it that turns on the 4wd light on the dash. Only problem is I don't know where the switch is to splice into the wires. Can anyone help? It's an '87 4.0L Aw4 231. Thanx, Brad.

    Whats left to do?

Just started tearing the transmission out AGAIN!!! I pulled it the day before yesterday and installed a new flex-plate to fix the knocking sound I've been hearing. Drove it 4 miles home and lost about a quart of trans. fluid. I guess with the flex-plate being broke it let the torque converter...

My bud has a set of 34x10.5 LTBs with about the same amount of tread & wear for $400. They measure about the same height as the boggers, but then you can say you're...

    smaller truck run?

Thanx mucho, but I don't want to be installing a locker & the Posi-Lok at the campground before I go wheeling. It's only $18 shipping for 2 lockers & the Posi-Lok & I'll have 'em Friday or Monday. I gotta get on the ball. Got to drop the transmission, replace the flex-plate. Build bumpers front...

    Best directions from the North

That would probably be your best bet. Unless you want to go through Knoxville to Maryville & follow 129. There would be some back tracking though. Brad.

    smaller truck run?

I'm in. I only have a 3.5" lift w/ 31s. Locked front & rear (hopefully by the crawl). My bro-in-law has a 4.5" w/ 32s locked F/R. I want to ride as much as possible but also check out the bigger trucks on the more difficult sections. We are driving there & back so I can't thrash out my ride...

    Easy, quick engine question

Ok. Just got back from the local trans. shop. Guy there says it sounds like the flex plate has a crack in it. Does that sound right? Anyone ever have that problem? They want $250 just to drop the trans, not counting fixing whats wrong. I've got to get this fixed, already got reservations @...

    Easy, quick engine question

Ok, thanks for the info. I was only changing the bearings because I had the pan dropped. I went ahead and changed all the mains but left the rods in after checking each one. I did swap out one of the rod bearings with one of the new ones. I put some plasti-gauge on it and re-torqued it back...

    Easy, quick engine question

Since I'm replacing the oil pump in my '87, I figured I'd go ahead & swap out the main & rod bearings. I ordered up a set and got started tearing down this morning. I got the main cap off & noticed that the bearing in it is labeled .010, the ones I got are standard size. I pulled a rod cap off...
