I went to SoCal Fest a few weeks ago with several of you. I was in the littlest XJ in the group that went on Gold Mountain Friday and Saturday. I also did John Bull on Friday. I have a 3" lift and 31" tires, TCase and tank skid, and rock rails. I also have a locker in the front. On Gold...
Worn control arm bushings was the cause of my death wobble. I replaced them with cheap aftermarket bushings and the problem went away. Unfortunately a year later I am noticing the bushings are wearing again. No death wobble yet. Next time I will put in factory bushing and see if they last...
This info might help compare shocks. I copied it from someone's post a long time ago and then added new shocks I found. The Doetsch shocks are only $39 each at LowRangeOffroad.com. They seem to be about the longest travel you can get for the price.
Front Shocks...
I got the Monroe 37193 shocks from Rock auto about a year ago. Unfortunately they were not as long as listed on Rock Lizards web site. I called Monroe and they said there was an error on the old chart that shows it is 24.25". That shock does not show up on their current chart. They also told...
I drove an 80's VW pickup back in the day. It was a work truck and I did like driving it. The mileage was great, about 45 mpg. It handled great, but it was under powered. On hills it could not maintain freeway speeds, and the speed limit was only 55 back then. I looked it up and it only had...
I tried aligning mine over and over. Then I replaced the track bar and aligned it again. Then I put in a ZJ tie rod because I wanted to do that anyways and I aligned it again. Still no luck. Then I replaced the control arm bushings. The death wobble was gone.
I use Monroe Sensatracs for my daily driver with a 3 inch budget boost. I have had them on for about a year and they ride great. I used PN 37120 in the front and PN 37029 in the rear. I got them for about $30 each plus shipping.
I did the headlight wire harness upgrade using 12ga wire for everything except the wires that pull in the relays. I used socket connectors to plug the lights and relays in. The problem with that was the pigtail wires that came attached to the female flag disconnects in the socket connectors were...
When I did my lift I searched and found the spring rates for the CC784 were 158. I can't remember where I found that so I don't know how reliable it is. I was going to use those springs with spacers to match my bastard pack rear springs, but a friend sold me his used OME 934 springs. The OMEs...
Here is what they look like with 31x10.5x15 tires on a 1999. They stuff very well. I still have the plastic liners inside the fenders and the tires are rubbing those. I think I need another 1/2" of bumpstop.
